Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

If any good has come of the current polarized culture, I have been more keenly aware of how my opinions have been shaped. I am more sensitive to the people who I allow into my brain to dust up my previous notions and re-arrange the furniture. I can be vulnerable to conforming to other's opinion and I can be extremely stubborn about allowing in a different idea. I can also arrogantly claim to be the generator of my own opinions without any external influence. Ha! Show you what a fool I truly am.
Probably the best time and energy I have spent is in reading and listening deeply to a variety of folks and then having a thoughtful conversation with God about what matters, what makes sense, what is true, what makes room for others in the conversation.

Show me what you want me to know and do today, Lord. Amen.
