Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the speechless sing for joy. For waters shall break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert

When a young person is a new driver, they bark at other drivers who don't seem to be following the rules of the road or who drive without regard to anyone else. Somewhere along the way, perhaps after a fender-bender or close calls of my own making, I started to consider the other drivers with more compassion. I saw them differently - not as inferior - but as a flawed human who was just as vulnerable to distractions and having a bad day as I could be. It changed the way I drove. I was more careful for myself and my passengers, of course, but for others as well. Sometimes I wonder if God is waiting to come again until our senses awaken and we become more compassionate behind the wheel.

Holy God, As we make our way, let us make for peace. Amen.
