You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land.

My first introduction to the kudzu vine was living in Tennessee. It is a large, fast growing(one foot a day in the summer time- no kidding)vine that wraps itself around anything in its path. I am convinced it could be considered a Weapon of Mass Destruction. Some vines just aren't worth taking with us. The people of Israel left Egypt not knowing where they were going but took vine rootlings with them to plant in a new land. My goddaughter is starting college soon and even now is meeting new friends and anxious for her new college life. As she goes, I pray that she will bring the roots of the plants that have fed her well to this day. There are plenty of Kudzu-like vines that show-off their organic guns with their big leaves, but the plants that give the most are the ones you have been taught by family and faith to recognize, the ones rooted in the grace of God. The people of God are the vine plantings for a new Kingdom. May we fill the land with the love we have known.

God, continue to chase our loved ones around to all the places they will grow. Amen.
