Hebrews 12:28-29
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, by which we offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence and awe; for indeed our God is a consuming fire.

I wouldn't want to live in a place where there are frequent earthquakes.  There are certain things I like to remain still.  The ground under my feet is one. I also am a big fan of gravity. I like knowing that I will not suddenly be flung off the earth and hurled into space.  I never underestimate the stillness of the ground and gravity to keep me on it.  There are just some things we need to be able to trust.  A relationship with the maker of the earth and the inventor of gravity among many other wondrous things is offered to us with that level of certainty and truth.  When our lives shake us to our core and when we are flung off our feet,  we can find our footing again with a God who deserves our sense of awe and wonder.

Even in the faces of changes, we rest in your steadfast love. Amen.
